Theme for January 2020: Broken

How was 2019 for you? Be honest… A lot of people might have had lots of beautiful things to say about 2019 but how about you? Do you also have lots of achievements to brag about, successes you are proud of? If you do, that’s really amazing, congratulations. If you do not, you are amazing, congratulations.

Why am I congratulating you? Because, God wants you to know that despite how rough 2019 was for you, He’s got amazing plans lined up for you.

This month’s theme is for everyone who felt broken by 2019, who felt battered by the storms that raged in the past year. It is for everyone who feels they have nothing to be grateful for in 2019. Oh, how wrong you are. You may have come out broken by the sandstorm that hit you in 2019, by the disappointments from your close friends and family; you may have scars to show for the pain caused by that relationship or the failures you lost count of in the last year both academically and financially. But guess what? You came out! Though broken, you were perfectly shaped for the amazing things God has planned for you.

It’s funny how God uses foolish things such as broken people to fix the world, but He has done that over and over again.

Look at Naomi and Ruth, broken to pieces by their experiences, but how beautiful their lives turned out to be. The broken parts turned out to be the perfect design through which the saviour of the world will be born.

Look at Daniel, broken by man’s cruelty and wickedness. Taken to a foreign land to be further broken by pressure. But no way, even when the enemies thought they had him, they had no clue what was coming for them. A man exalted above his peers and his enemies filling the stomach of the hungry lion.

Look at Jesus, broken by betrayal from the ones He came to save. Like this was the height of it. I don’t mind if my enemies spit on me and cast me to be beaten and killed, but to be treated in this very way by the people I came to save? I do not think I would be able to recover from that. But Jesus did not only rise above their ignorance and betrayal, He was also highly exalted and given a name that is above all. The rejected stone eventually became the very foundation of life. Glory!!!

I know it’s not easy, I would just like you to follow us this month as we show you through the help of the Holy Spirit that God is making something very beautiful out of your life. It does not make sense right now, but it will if you stay with Him.
