SUNDAY CHURCH SERVICE

Why exactly do you go to church?

Have you ever taken your time to ponder on this?

Some of us wake up very early on Sundays just as we do on our regular working days, while others still spend time on their beds rolling and squeezing before getting up to prepare for church.

Waking up very early to prepare for church is actually admirable but how many early church goers are conscious of why they need to get to church early? Is it a point of duty? Is it just to fulfil the usual human craving for satisfaction for completing a routine? Is it because they do not want to miss the pretty celestial voices that sing “Halleluyah” every Sunday morning to start the service? Or not to miss the smile of the pretty usher that welcomes you to church? (smiles). Trust me, there are countless reasons a lot of us go to church in the first place, let alone going early. For some, they have had a terrible week and the church is the best place to ease the steam; some find family and cannot wait for the next Sunday. Regardless of the many reasons, we have to understand the reason for “church”. Church is a place of fellowship; with God as well as with fellow brethren. The bible says, ‘do not forsake the assembly of the brethren’. Sunday service is a period of service to God not to man or ourselves, offering worship to the Father. Little wonder majority of church goers do not experience any sort of transformation after service. They eventually go back to their niches exactly the same way or in some cases worse than they were. There is nothing to show that they are coming from the home of the Master of the universe. You don’t go to the home of the King of kings without something to show for it except you didn’t actually go to meet Him. We place priority on things that should not be even close to the top of our list and we neglect the most important and essential things.

Take a minute and ask yourself; why do you go to church? What does Sunday service mean to you? Do you wake up every Sunday morning with excitement because you are meeting with your Father? You know, the same way you feel excitement when you are given an audience by the President of your country.

Perhaps you have had disappointments in the past and you are not expectant, but you need to understand that expectation is the key to gain access to meet the Father. “For he that cometh to the Father must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that seek Him. It is important that we return to our first love. Sunday service is a not a routine, it is not a line of duty to fulfil your daily or weekly requirements for a successful day or week, it is worship to God. This is the conclusion of the whole matter; Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. The next time you wake up on a Sunday morning, get up with excitement and expectations, bubbling with adoration and reverence, ready to offer intense, genuine and acceptable worship and you will not remain the same.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual act of worship.

I appeal to you therefore, brethren and beg of you in view of all mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies, presenting all your members and faculties as a living sacrifice, holy, devoted, consecrated and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable, rational, intelligent service and spiritual worship.

God bless you.

Every man has a purpose in life. Ours is to help people discover, rediscover and fulfill their purpose. We believe that the young generation are the building blocks and foundation of the next new thing the world is about to experience.
