Building The Great Nation We Desire
Nigeria is looking far from it. The state keeps deteriorating and all we do is talk- analyzing and proffering solutions with our mouth but our hands remain idle but should it end here?
Sadly, in many cases, it ends at just the talk.
Cory Booker quoted- “If we want a great nation, we have to change it ourselves.”
Someone should, someone can, the set man has ‘a’ responsibility but every individual has ‘the’ responsibility to contribute to making the change that we all desire. And it starts from where we are.
Maybe Lagos is the state you find yourself and lately, it has been messy and dirty leaving you pissed and a bit frustrated, but a ‘cleaner Lagos’ goal can only be achieved by you, from where you are. After all, individuals took out the garbage and dumped them on the streets, it only takes individuals to kick against this and do the right things.
We do not necessarily need a position in the government to work ‘change’ but we need to act in the position we are now. Echoing Mordecai’s words to Queen Esther- ‘Who knows if you are where you are for such a time as this?’
Who knows? So, it is not time to sit in a corner and await a dramatic change which of course will arise from somewhere else, initiated by someone if you do not make a move. It is time to initiate and work ‘change.’ It is time to make the great nation you desire.
In the words of the king of pop ‘If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make that change.’
I dare to challenge you like Mordecai did and right now, I am greatly anticipating the rise of Esther(s) that will stand up to challenges and make changes. I anticipate the change that only you can make to see our desired ‘Great Nation.’
Idowu Koyenikan said and I quote- “Your pride for your country should not come after your country becomes great; your country becomes great because of your pride in it”
Let’s make a country we can be proud of and watch ‘great’ boldly inscribe its letters for the world to see.
[…] Nations don’t just happen by historical accident, they are built by men and women with vision and resolve. […]
