DeAltar Celebrates 9 Years of Hope and Impact
For nine years, DeAltar, a non-governmental organization, has carried a singular purpose: to share the message of Hope with the world. From the very beginning, DeAltar’s mission has been not only to spread Hope but also to ensure that young minds across Africa are nurtured and equipped with the skills, knowledge, and resources to reach their full potential. We are committed to helping young people achieve their dreams and aspirations, offering them the tools they need to succeed.
As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on 9 years of passionately pursuing this vision. It’s been 9 years of transforming lives, impacting communities, and reminding people that Hope is not just a word, but a powerful reality. Hope is alive, and through our work, we have shared this message.
In honor of our 9th anniversary, we embarked on a project, the Hope Walk. The Hope Walk initiative brings the message of hope to life—not just as a concept, but as a tangible experience that empowers young people to rise above their circumstances and lead productive lives.
During Hope Walk, we visited various communities, correctional facilities, healthcare centers, schools, and other places where the message of Hope is most needed. Our aim is to spark a sense of possibility and inspire individuals to believe in brighter futures.
In Hope Walk 1.0, we brought Hope to the children at the Juvenile Correctional Facility in Idi Araba.
For Hope Walk 2.0, we extended this message to the inmates at Ikoyi Medium Correctional Centre.
This year,
We took to the streets of Agege, Lagos—specifically the Ayobo Garage—where we led a market cleanup initiative. We started with a walk from Agege under bridge to the market, carrying our cardboards and showing inspiring messages on the cardboards and even at back of our Hope t-shirts. Some mistook us for protesters, but we redirected their attention to our message, encouraging them to never give up hope.
Our goal was to raise awareness about environmental sanitation and educate others on how clean drainages prevent disasters like flooding. We not only addressed these issues but also led by example, actively cleaning the environment alongside the community.
As we engaged with the community, we shared the message of hope, encouraging everyone to see beyond their challenges.
At DeAltar, we are deeply aware of the economic and insecurity challenges facing Nigeria. As a faith-based organization, we are rooted in the belief that Christ is our Hope. We believe Jesus provides a meaningful life, assuring us that with God, we can overcome any adversity or challenge.
With this conviction in our hearts, we joyfully shared hope with the people we met during our 9th-year anniversary celebration. Some people mistook us for protesters, but we redirected their attention to our message and encouraged them to never give up hope.
DeAltar’s 9th anniversary celebrated love, community, and the unwavering belief that hope is alive.
