I used to be scared

So you said you loved me

You said you’d like to share in my pain

You said you’d like to walk with me

Walk from where I am to where I’m going

You said you want me and it’s me you want

But I said no

I said you deserved more and I let you go

But you held on still

You held on till I realised the truth

The truth that who I claimed I was, wasn’t the real me

You saw ahead of me what I failed to see

You saw the woman that God called me to be

You saw the woman that I was becoming

And finally, I saw it too

The woman you need to hold hands with you as you walk through life

The woman who can stand in your place when you’re not there

The woman in whom you have put your trust

The woman in whom God has put his trust concerning you

I used to be scared

I used to be insecure

But now that I have met the real me,

I’m excited to walk through life with you

I’m elated to fulfil the mandate of the Father with you

I wait in earnest as we take our first step together into eternity.
