The Power Of Consistency

The Power of Consistency

For the next few days, I will be taking us on a series on The Power of Consistency and why consistency is very important for us to fulfil God’s given plan and purpose for our lives.

First of all, let us try to define Consistency;

Consistency is simply the act of being consistent.

What does it mean to be consistent?

It is related to the word consist which refers to what something is made of. But it goes beyond that.

Consistent refers to the similarity or regularity of that content. In this case, the content we are referring to would be attitude, character, behaviour, habits which eventually yield results such as success or failure.

This therefore implies that you can be consistent in an attitude, character, behaviour or habit that would lead you to success or that would lead you to failure. It is all about the regularity or similarity in occurrence which we refer to as consistency.

We all have got great plans (at least some of us), business ideas, dreams, some of us have discovered our purpose quite early – or maybe not as early. Many of us have even started on them, and that is fantastic. But that is not all to it. Starting a race does not mean you will actually finish it. Sad but true.

You know how we all want to sleep and wake up one morning and see our dreams fulfilled? Overnight success, some refer to it. But is there anything like that? No doubt things happen real quick. This minute you are a truck driver (I actually meant a truck pusher) and the next minute, you are the owner of a brand new Venza (I kinda love that car). It seems to happen all of a sudden. That may be what it appears to be, but most of the time it is not all that there is to the story.

Toni Robbins, an American business man said; it is not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives; it is what we do on a consistent basis.

Be Instant in season and out of season…

Paul of Tarsus

Let me ask you a question; What would you accomplish, if you were consistent with something for the next 20 years? Put your imagination to the task and get an answer. Well, I will tell you mine; Anything.

Thomas Edison failed about 999 times before he succeeded with Electricity. What helped him succeed? Consistency.

Bishop T.D Jakes on his 30th anniversary in ministry recorded that only 8 out of those 30 years were a success. He did not particularly see so much in his first 12 years. What was one of the secrets of his eventual success in ministry? Consistency.

If you cannot be who you want to be in the next 20 years every day for the next 20 years, you may never be that person.

Consistency is attached with failed attempts which in the long run become lesson modules for you on your way to success.

A lot of dreams have short-lived because the carriers could not continue. Purpose defeated because the habits, attitudes, characters and behaviours that would lead to its fulfilment were left to irregular treatments. Meaning, the people that could have achieved amazing things were not consistent in their success habits, character building, attitude refining and behavioural transformation. Making them to fall short when it mattered most.

So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit

Paul of Tarsus

The reward of consistency goes far beyond our comprehension. You will be amazed how much consistency will get you, how far it can take you and how good it will make you look.

Every man has a purpose in life. Ours is to help people discover, rediscover and fulfill their purpose. We believe that the young generation are the building blocks and foundation of the next new thing the world is about to experience.

    1. One of the most important questions to ask when it comes to consistency is WHY? Why are you doing whatever you are doing? What is the purpose? What do you want to achieve in the end? This question serves as a drive whenever discouragement kicks in and consistency thins out. I’ll talk about this much more in another part of this series.
      Thanks a lot.

  1. Wow!! Consistency is attached with failed attempts which in the long run serves as lesson modules on the journey to success. Consistency is very hard when it hasn’t proved any difference, but the above knowledge will serve a lot and the quotes and the whole summary here.

    1. Thanks a lot Victoria… Often times, we hardly see the difference made by consistency. It is always about “in the long run”. Never about now but about tomorrow.

We would love to hear what you have to say...
