#31DaysWithTheAnchor – Day 7
Topic: Trusting the Anchor
Meditate:
Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].
In the earlier part of this series, we saw the Anchor as “Father” and you know what a personality of the anchor being Abba is one of the sweetest things ever as we explore the fatherly role He plays.
As a young child I grew up with just my mom so basically, I was always alone curled up with myself. I so wanted a father I could gist with and report everything my mom does to. The more I grew the hunger increased, gradually it became an obsession to meet with my father, unfortunately, mom wasn’t ready to show me, all she did was tell me his name.
One day I went through her phone, saw the name I was looking for, I guess trying won’t hurt anyone.
Long story short, he promised to come to see me, I was so excited as I wore my favorite dress and waited but he never showed up. I gave him a call, he gave valid reasons why he couldn’t make it and we fixed another time. Sadly what happened the first time repeated and it continued for a little over 8years, gradually I lost complete trust in anything termed father.
It made my walk with the Anchor one full of doubt as the times I tried trusting Him with my life issues, and I call Him father, I always curl up and then withdraw.
It took a while before I was able to realize what was blocking my ability to trust the Anchor was the perspective I was viewing him from. When it changed it, I got rid of my doubt and strengthened my ability to trust in him completely.
You being able to trust the Anchor depends on your understanding and the point at which you are seeing him.
One of the purposes of this series is to breed a relationship with the Anchor in an understanding of who the He is
The Anchor is a Lover, the One who is charge of your well being is a lover
It is not just humans that can be termed as lovers but He is a lover as well
Who is a lover??
A being capable of loving someone.
One of the most well known Bible verse is John 3:16 (AMP)
For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life
One way God defines love is an act of giving, however, what He gave for those He love was not a mere gift wrapped present but a sacrifice of His only son that we whom He loves will not spend eternity separated from Him. He is such an amazing lover because we are the ones who choose to reject Him yet he amends our ways through His personal sacrifice
Romand 5:8
But God commendeth His love towards us, in that while we are just sinners Christ died for us.
When it comes to the Anchor being a lover, he doesn’t love us based on conditions. He doesn’t say “soon as you clean up your act then I will love you” nor does he say “I’ll love you if you promise to love me back” nothing of such rather he places an unconditional love on us while we didn’t clean up or promise to love him back still he did the giving and sacrifice long before our existence or knowledge of Him. What an amazing lover!!!
Liken Him to that favorite Ice Cream you love so much that makes you joyous from the sound of the name to the aura of it down to the entirety of its soothing ability as it goes down your throat if it works for you
Then the entirety of love nature will be shed abound in your heart then you will trust Him wholly.
Task for the day
Search for names of God, find the ones that most relatable to you, then always come to the place of fellowship with that name in your heart.
