Topic: Follow The Anchor – Part 3
Meditate:
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
In the last part, we talked extensively about The Anchor being our Father. Today, I would like to share with us another important personality of The Anchor.
Lord: It is usually quite easy to identify with The Anchor as Father because this is the beautiful part of the relationship. It seems quite easy to relate with a person that defends you, protects you and loves you to a fault. But you cannot deal with someone that gives you orders. Isn’t that right?
Well, as much as The Anchor is Father, He is also Lord.
Who is a Lord?
Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a Lord as one having power and authority over others.
As much as your natural father loves and provides for you, he also has ownership and authority over you as his child. This is usually hard to take, cos everyone likes to own and live their lives.
In our meditation today, one important truth is glaring; we do not own our lives. We were bought with a price and we are owned by The Anchor.
This should not scare us, rather, it should excite us and make us feel safe in His arms. Because The Anchor never leaves His own even in the fiercest storms. He said; … And, lo, I am with you alway, even to the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:20)
By this, we know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world.
Here, we see the beautiful connection between Father and Lord. The Lord gives instructions/commandments. They are not wicked – maybe hard and tough – but we know that the thoughts He has for us are thoughts of good, not evil, to give us an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11).
The Lord always thinks for His own because He would not want anything bad to happen to them. He always has our best interest at heart. Always.
He is our Shepherd that makes sure we do not lack anything; our Compass that makes us go in the right direction; our Commander that instructs us on how best to navigate the storms we face. Disobedience to Him is at our own detriment.
Have you accepted Him as your loving Father? If yes, great. If not, you still can today. You just have to confess it. Say it out loud. With that sorted, have you accepted Him as your Lord? The owner of your life? I know this is the hard part, but it is equally as important. Because He always watches over His own.
Task for today:
Take a minute to think about who has been in control of your life. You or The Anchor? Openly admit that you do not own your life and you accept The Anchor as the Lord over your life. Also, commit yourself to obey His instructions.
