Blind Spot

Blind Spot

It is amazing how much we all miss on a daily basis. It’s called our blind spot. It is out there, but we keep missing it every time.

We miss the child at the corner desperately in need; we say to ourselves, he is just irresponsible.

We miss the brief tear that flows from people around us, which is usually followed by a dashing smile and we think they are living perfect lives.

We compare ourselves to people who are going through so much, but hide it beneath a perfect mask.

We see ourselves so much that we fail to see others.
We are so much into our pains and challenges that we fail to see the pain and challenges others face.

If we would just for once stop thinking about only ourselves, our eyes would be open to so much going on around us.

It is everyone for himself or herself right? Well, that is what is killing us. Every being has a role to play in every other person’s life. Everyone needs help, and this need can only be met by someone that is not you. Now try to imagine everyone just living for himself or herself only. Everyone suffers for it.

This is our blind spot, our missed opportunities to make a difference in someone’s life.

We often don’t realize how much making a difference in someone’s life could impact on our society and the world at large. Yet, another blind spot.

Our scope of reasoning is usually limited to “right now”, “right here”. We fail to see the bigger picture; we fail to see the bigger impact; we fail to see many years from now.

All we see is; this person, right here, right now.

If only we would expand our scope of reasoning, we would see that there is no coincidence, there is always a much bigger plan, a bigger picture, a more complete movie script, and we have a role to play in it.

Different words making a sentence, sentences forming a paragraph, paragraphs composing a passage, passages building a chapter, chapters giving life to a book; and it doesn’t stop there; books beget series, endless series until the grand finale. And guess what? It all starts with words.

There is so much more at stake if you are blind to your role, even in the most minute form.

You Are Never Alone
