Bible Study – Unashamed
So, we started our bible study about 2 weeks ago, and we have decided to be sharing excerpts from every bible study we have. We are also working on you being a part of it and will let you know when the time comes.
Till then however, enjoy our first bible study lesson; Unashamed.
A word dropped in my mind this morning after I said a short prayer, “Reticent”, I can’t remember knowing the word, so I checked the dictionary, it means ” not willing to tell people about things, uncommunicative”
I saw and understood it for what it was in my Christian life, I was being reticent.
Can’t remember telling a stranger Jesus Loves you, since leaving the university, I’ve become lax in speaking. The Bible clearly tells us to preach the gospel (birth, death and resurrection).
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age, Amen.
He said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved. But he who does not believe will be condemned.”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth and to one comes to the Father except through Me.”
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you shall be My witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How them shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
Meanwhile, through the performance of this ministry, they glorify God for the profession of your faith in the gospel of Christ and for your liberal sharing with them and with all others.
But be self-controlled in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of and evangelist, and prove your ministry.
And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
The feet is beautiful if only it goes.
Sharing an illustration to paint the picture better;
Imagine for a moment that you live in a place that is infested with venomous snakes. People around you are constantly dying from snakebites. One day you are bitten and when death is closing in, someone reaches down, picks you up and gives you a drink. This drink contains anti venom not only does it save your life but protects you from the future threat of snakes. The same person also tells you where to find a lifetime supply of anti venom and encourages you to share with others. If this imaginary scenario really happened, how unbelievable would it be if we were to walk around keeping the anti venom to ourselves? People would be suffering all around and instead of helping them with the lifesaving anti venom, the only thing we offer is that we’ve heard of another place that doesn’t have any snakes, which does nothing to relieve their current suffering
Is there a best way to share the gospel?
You might ask, as there are some of us that want to share the gospel but often times don’t know how. The best way to share the gospel is by saying your own salvation story. It’s the realest, most convincing and most expressive way of sharing the gospel. It’s often said the start of something is usually the hardest, take a bold step to talk to someone today and it’ll definitely get easier.
