A Fresh Start

A Fresh Start

Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them

Isaiah 42:9

I believe that lots of stuffs have happened in previous years, disappointing as well as cool stuffs. We have had achievements and disappointments likewise, success and failure, maybe in different proportions. I came into 2018 not knowing exactly how it would be like… One thing God told me though was that 2018 will be a year for a fresh start.

So, what’s the implication?

As the scripture says, the former things have already happened… they have come, to pass… please take note of this; they are not here to stay, but they have come, to pass, to leave, to go.

A lot of us are still holding on to stuffs that happened in 2017, some, still holding on to 2016, many even further. How can we move any further if we are not willing to let go of the past?

The truth is, there is no way we can move forward while we still have tied around our waist the burden of yesterday or yester-years…

Having realized that we need to let go of the past to have a fresh start, we also need to know that by ourselves we cannot navigate through the future.

Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Even with a fresh start, you really cannot be certain what could happen or might not happen. Even with a fantastic year plan or month plan or business plan or academic plan, there are still unforeseen circumstances that could happen.

But guess what? We have within us one that knows all things.

We are limited in our perception of things and we know little or nothing… we can be likened to blind men because our human sight is not enough.

For we walk by Faith and not by sight

So, what is Faith?

Alongside the definition given in Hebrews 11:1, Faith is basically God’s word come alive, living and active.

Now, God is telling us here that the new things He will declare and before they happen, He will tell us.

So, planning is really good but you cannot have an effective plan without God actively involved in it. He will tell you what will happen before it happens.

I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.

Isaiah 42:16

So, this year, I would like you to let go of previous disappointments and hold on to God’s word for this year. God has amazing plans for you… I mean YOU.

For I know the thoughts I have for you saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil to give you an expected end

In other words, by the time this year ends, you would see God in action because of His plans for you… but you have got to follow His lead. Stop struggling with Him and let Him lead and guide you. He has your best interest at heart.

So, it is a new year, a new start, a new beginning, a new and fresh slate for all of us… let go of the mistakes and disappointments of the past, the stuffs you could not do, the people that let you down, the exams you did not pass and so on.

Let them go and choose to have a fresh start with God.

You Are Never Alone.
