Love Over Unforgiveness
Love Over Unforgiveness.
“And forgive us our trespasses” we pray.
“Please, forgive me” we plead.
Just how much do we stop to remember these when we place bars of iron against mercy on that person, the one who offended us. That wrenching pain we feel at each remembrance, when we go on a long journey of thoughts, swearing and cursing, when you mean to make them suffer. Making a mental list of our offender’s sins. “The past can’t be undone” we strongly claim. Yes, you’ve been offended, hurt, maybe abused. All of those pretty horrible things you’ve encountered. “Never” you vow to forgive. Even when the gentle voice of forgiveness sifts through in light of love, we shut our ears even tighter. Let go! “I can’t” of course you can. Think of how free and whole you’d be, releasing all of it.
“They’ll take me for granted and offend me yet again.” No denying, you got a point. Humans misuse privileges, let me remind you that you do the same. Forgive me, if you will but I must say. We do just the same because we know that coming back to the father, He’ll accept us. So take a conscious effort to forgive. Yes, close your eyes, think of that man who took all the blame even when we were in the wrong. We know it too well that it was all for our sins. He shed His blood on the cross, He did it for the pain we feel right now, the hurt, bitterness…. Loving us unconditionally despite our grave sins. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Remember this my friend and forgive. “And forgive us our trespasses, even as we forgive those who trespass against us” Yeah, that’s the order. Let go of the pain and accept healing that comes with forgiveness. Look on at your offenders through a filter of love.
Just like Jesus, I choose Love over unforgiveness. You’d make a right decision, I believe….
You Are Never Alone
