Useful Waste
A useful waste? Is that even possible? Can any good can come out of a dirt/waste? Doesn’t it sound hysterical to say “a useful waste”? Of course it does, it even sounds dumb; more like an irony. However, looking it from another perspective, we could actually be wrong.
Let’s take a look at a Thousand Naira note! We know the value of a Thousand Naira note, as well as its capabilities in terms of its purchasing power; be it small or large items, it will definitely purchase either.
A Thousand Naira might be just a note but can never be mistaken for ordinary paper. Now imagine a Thousand Naira note thrown into a refuse dump, getting mixed with all sorts of dirt, resulting in a dirty, smelly, rough note.
Anyone looking at the dumping ground from afar will tag everything within the waste land as “wastes”, but the moment a scavenger sets his eyes on it, regardless of the way it looks from the outside, he would still see the value of the note.
In the same vein, in our journey to finding out the real us, in discovering ourselves and our true worth, we will be faced with ugly situations aimed at making us look lower than our real selves. We will fall on numerous occasions, we might not even recognize ourselves any more because of how dirty and stinking we seem. However, we should never allow what happens to us determine who we are or who we are meant to be.
We should never allow where we are right now, determine where we are going to be in the nearest future. The Righteous may fall several times, but he will always rise up again.
Other people’s opinions of us should not make up our opinions of ourselves. They think they see us but only viewing from afar does not count for knowing exactly who we are.
A lot of us have limited our value to what is placed on us by those who can hardly even see us. The funny part is, while others are looking from afar, making their judgements and conclusions, someone came right into the dump yard specifically to look for us.
Where everyone sees nothing in us, He sees something special in us; where every other person sees a failure, He sees a potential record maker and success story.
Here is the most amazing thing I have ever heard in my life; “When God sees me, He sees Himself in me”. Do you know what that means? Remember, when God made man in the beginning, He made us in His own image; This is to say, we’re God’s selfies. So, we look just like Him and possess very similar attributes.
This is an amazing truth because, it makes me realize that I am not a waste, I am not a failure, I am not a “nobody”, I am worth more than silver, gold and diamond put together.
The devil tries to make us feel less of ourselves than we actually are but we need to understand that we are actually more than what we can see right now.
So brothers and sisters, you might be in a situation that makes you feel like a pile of waste that belongs to the dump yard; however, remember that there’s someone (God) who does not see a waste when He sees you. He sees The Real You; Don’t you know that your body is God’s temple and God’s Spirit dwells in you?
The truth is you might be in a dump yard right now, you might feel so dirty and useless, but that is not where you belong. You are meant for greater places doing great things. He has put treasures in earthen vessels so that men will not take the glory but Him alone because only He can unearth the hidden treasures.
You Are Never Alone.
