You Can Make It Work

You Can Make It Work

You can make it work

As we progress through life, we will all go through really difficult challenges and obstacles aimed at stopping us in our tracks, make us achieve close to nothing or nothing at all and ultimately give up.

Often times, the bigger the dreams and aspirations and vision, the bigger the challenges. So they should be expected but what they should not do is limit us.

Lots of people see obstacles and challenges as limitations, stumbling blocks, signs that your dreams and vision cannot work; but one thing I have come to understand and discover in life – and you really do not need a microscope to see this – is that the bigger the tests, the bigger the testimonies. This means that challenges are not stumbling blocks but stepping stones, they are not limitations but are a push to the next level.

Recently I was contemplating giving up on something, then this dropped in my spirit; quite a lot of professional soccer players have periods they call droughts; even the best players have such periods. Would you advise them to give up on soccer altogether just because they could not score in a few games? Well, the answer is no. Lots of soccer fans will agree with me that more often than not, it is when it matters most they break their drought – not all the time though.

So you see, you can make it work only if you see challenges as tests and examinations which will propel you to the next stage. Even when it feels overwhelming, you probably just need to calm down and see a way out. We have been encouraged by our Lord Jesus that we will not be given more than we can handle. So we understand that whatever we face is not beyond us; we can and will overcome. However, do not be deceived, it only gets harder before it gets better.

Coach Carter asked Timo Cruz, what is your deepest fear? He was wondering what the question meant. He was asked the second time, he still had no answer. Soon after witnessing the death of his nephew, not being able to play basketball because of his grades in school, he stood up in front of his teammates in the basketball court cum library and said without being asked;

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

You need to understand that you are more powerful than your challenges; even more powerful than you realize. Sometimes, the challenges we face help us unearth the hidden treasures we have in us which we never knew about; they make us know much more about ourselves which we never knew.

On a final note, don’t give up on God. I know how this sounds to you; easy to say right? Well, no matter how easy it is or hard it is to say or to do, please do not give up on God. I know there are times He seems so far away, times He doesn’t even seem to be there at all. Those silent moments where it seems He is either not listening at all or doesn’t care enough to reply you. It could be frustrating and killing but do not give up still. The truth is that as long as there is Life, God is there, listening and paying attention. And when the time is right, He will answer you beyond your imaginations.

We might not understand everything, but we do know that all things work together for our good because He is Intentional.

You Are Never Alone.
