The Hands of Time
There are times when we really wish we could turn back the hands of time. Those times when we remember some things we did some time ago and their memories make us feel ashamed and angry at ourselves. At such times, we find it hard to even look at ourselves. Anger stirs up in our hearts like an active volcano eager to erupt – looks like it is simply taking its time.
At such times, we just wish it were within our capabilities to literally flash back not in memories but in reality and turn those actions around, make different decisions, say something different or not say anything at all.
Often times, we brood over our past like a mother bird broods over her young ones, keeping watch over them and protecting them. Sometimes I wonder what we are protecting in our past. What we do not realize is that we lose sight of what is ahead of us while brooding over our past.
I wish I never said it, I wish I had waited, I wish I had gone instead, I wish it was me, I wish I had done it, I wish I had not done it, I wish I said it; the truth is, they sure have left indelible marks on our lives, however there is nothing more to do than to move on with the scars that serve as future reference. It is very funny how we dwell so much on our regrets and mistakes that we do not know when we are faced with those same circumstances and are given a chance to redeem ourselves. Instead, we make those same mistakes and the cycle continues. It is true that every action comes with its consequences and it is your responsibility to still forge your path and move ahead in those circumstances, not letting them pull you down.
We were never assured of a smooth sailing; the road will definitely be rough, filled with rocks and pebbles, broken glasses and bottles aimed at slowing you down and hurting you. You will definitely experience ups and downs, miss-turns and mistakes, bad decisions and choices, maybe so terrible no one must get to know. But believe me, it is all part of the journey. In the end, what matters most is that you get to your destination.
You cannot get to your destination beating yourself up over one wrong turn or every wrong turn you have made; you need to get yourself back together, take your wheels, retrace your steps and move on.
You will never get to the top thinking of how many times you have unsuccessfully tried to reach the summit; you have got to pick up yourself, dust yourself and try again.
No one says it is going to be easy because that will be a terrible lie. You can only if you will.
The greatest asset of any man is not his physical capabilities, strength, expertise, talents or skills but his will. Your will is capable of taking your farther than your skill set, physical prowess and so on will ever take you.
So instead of making a bed in the valley of failures, regrets and mistake, take up your bed and go your way. It may take you more time than you expect, cost you more than you are willing to pay but in the end, the glory of the latter will be far greater than the former.
There is a great future that awaits you and you can get there.
Give your life to Jesus today, in Him alone can your future be guranteed.
You Are Never Alone.
