I Just Can’t Give Up Now

I Just Can’t Give Up Now

There would be mountains that I would have to climb

And there would be battles that I would have to fight

But victory or defeat is up to me decide

But how can I expect to win if I never tried?

I just can’t give up now

I’ve come too far from where I started from

Nobody told me the road will be easy

And I don’t believe He brought me this far to leave me

This song was written some time ago by Mary Mary and it remains relevant to the lives men and women, guys and ladies going through times and looking for a way out.

Giving up is a decision many of us are forced to make in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. But don’t forget, it remains a decision, a choice not imposed on us but we make anyway.

The moment you give up, you are accepting defeat simply because you think there is no hope of winning, or you think there is no point in continuing, or you think it is just a waste of time. It makes you abandon great prospects, big dreams with big potentials, things that would potentially affect the lives of millions of people around the world.

Anytime I hear the subject of “giving up”, I ask within myself; what made you start in the first place? Ponder on this; for you to give up on something, you must have believed in it at a time. The question here is, what happened to this belief?

You may be facing extremely difficult situations with challenges that you feel are bigger than you; you may have been insulted, embarrassed, disgraced for standing by what you believe; it is no reason good enough to give up. I use the phrase “good enough” because as long as there is life, there is hope regardless of the daunting and intimidating army standing against you.

Great potentials have been limited, some even destroyed just because of this choice we usually make thinking we have no choice. Hard to believe but true; it is just an option amongst many options. It just appears to be the best option at the time. It is just like a multiple choice question; an option stares at you like it is the best option but you don’t just jump at that option. You take a look at the other options available and then weigh the best amongst them. What looks like the best option at the beginning oft becomes the wrong answer after careful examination.

I’m sure you like having a premeditated answer to every question posed at you. You see a question and without looking at the options you already know the answer; you’d love that right? You simply have to look for the answer you already have without being distracted by the others there. But you know that it is highly unlikely you know the answer to all questions in a multiple choice examination. Some questions will need you to pick the best option amongst a number of options and you don’t answer such questions in a hurry… Do you??

This is the conclusion of the whole matter; “Even if the option to give up stares right at me in the face, I’ll still refuse to give up…” How about you?
